Cambodia has been admitted to be Member of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD), said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) in a news release this afternoon. The admission was made during the 5th Working Level Meeting of CEAPAD held via videoconference on July 18. H.E. MEAS Kim Heng, Secretary of State at the MFAIC, represented Cambodia in the meeting. The Meeting discussed the role of the Palestinian Authority in the recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, the assistance efforts for the Palestinian people and the importance of coordination and cooperation through CEAPAD, said the same source, adding that at the end of the meeting, Japan and the State of Palestine as Co-chairs of the meeting welcomed Cambodia and Lao PDR as new official CEAPAD members. During the meeting, H.E. MEAS Kim Heng emphasised that Cambodia holds in high regard the efforts of CEAPAD and the contributions made by CEAPAD members and stakeholders in mobilising assistances over the years to support and strengthen Palestine's capacity for the realisation of its aspiration for stability, socio-economic rehabilitation, and more importantly, long-lasting peace. As a new member of CEAPAD, he continued, Cambodia hopes to share with the Palestinian people its knowledge and experience in socio-economic rehabilitation for the rebuilding efforts with the Palestinian people.
