Cambodia and Singapore Armies Pledge Enhanced Defence Cooperation

Singapore: The armies of Cambodia and Singapore have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral defence ties following a high-level visit to Singapore by a delegation from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF). H.E. Gen. Mao Sophan, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the RCAF and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, led the delegation for an official visit to Singapore from Oct. 21 to 23, 2025.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the visit centred on strategic talks aimed at enhancing military collaboration. H.E. Gen. Mao Sophan held productive courtesy meetings with key Singaporean defence leaders, including H.E. Desmond Choo, Minister of State for Defence, and Vice-Admiral Aaron Beng, Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

Crucially, H.E. Gen. Mao Sophan engaged in bilateral discussions with Maj. Gen. Cai Dexian, Chief of the Singapore Army, where both commanders focused on tangible steps to expand defence cooperation between the two nations.

This commitment to strengthening partnerships in defence and security coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Singapore this year. Both sides expressed optimism about advancing cooperation through joint initiatives, further solidifying their longstanding and strategic relationship.
