ASEAN Secretary General to Observe 2023 General Election in Cambodia This Weekend

Secretary General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn will observe the general election in Cambodia to be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the invitation of the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Standing Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Ouch Borith.

Accompanied by a team of ASEAN Secretariat staff, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn will observe key events in the electoral process, including the opening of polling stations and ballot-counting process, said a press release of the ASEAN Secretariat.

During the visit, the source added, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, along with other observers, is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

Cambodia has been conducting smoothly a three-week-long election campaign until July 21 with the participation of 18 political parties.

A total of 9,710,645 eligible voters, of them 5,161,906 are women, will cast their votes in 23,789 polling stations throughout the country.
