The second contingent of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit 98, composed of 98 peacekeepers, including 15 women, has left for their UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic. Seeing them off at the Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday, H.E. Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance (NPMEC), wished them safety and success in their mission, underlining that this is another pride for Cambodia. The first contingent returned home on Feb. 20 after successfully fulling their mission under the UN umbrella in the Central African Republic. Since 2006, Cambodia has deployed a total of 9,563 peacekeepers, including 816 women, for 12 missions in ten countries: Sudan, South Sudan, Chad, Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria, the Central African Republic, Mali, Yemen, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
