Social media influencer, Mohd Hazalif Mohd Hazani, also known as Alif Teega, was charged in the Sessions Court here today on two counts of misappropriating over RM60,000 raised for two infaq (charity) programmes in April and June this year. Mohd Hazalif, 30, pleaded not guilty to both charges read before Judge Azura Alwi. For the first charge, he is accused of dishonestly misappropriating RM36,047.35 in donations intended for infaq iftar in Mecca, Syria, and Palestine at a bank on Jalan Kerinci, Gerbang Kerinci Lestari, on April 26On the second charge, he is accused of dishonestly misappropriating RM27,558.13 intended for the Jom! Sertai Infaq Daging Qurban programme at the same bank on June 15. Both charges were brought under Section 403 of the Penal Code (Act 574), which carries a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment, caning, and a fine, upon conviction. Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Yasmin Salleh proposed bail between RM50,000 and RM100,000 for both charges, with additional condition s that he surrender his passport and report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya once a month.
