Agrobank Aquaculture Aspire Programme To Involve PMVA, PPKI Students Nationwide

PUTRAJAYA, The Agrobank Aquaculture Aspire programme, launched by the bank in collaboration with the Education Ministry will involve 10 upper secondary vocational aquaculture schools (PMVA) and Special Education Integration Programmes (PPKI) nationwide. Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said RM110,000 has been allocated for implementing the education programme, which will benefit 100 neurodiverse students. 'Agrobank is collaborating with the local freshwater fish seed producer, ARC Berkat Agro Food Sdn Bhd (ARC), which supplies catfish and tilapia seeds,' he said in a statement here today. He said the company will supply the relevant schools with biofloc sets and provide guidance and training on the care of the biofloc system and the technical aspects. According to him, the fish will take about two to three months to mature before they can be harvested. Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah said the initiative aligns with the National Food Security Policy 2021-20 25, noting that Agrobank is preparing the younger generation to take on future challenges in the agro-industry and to be the catalysts for the country's food security. He added that biofloc technology (that increases the efficacy and utilisation of fish seeds) is significant for environmental sustainability by reducing water change in farming systems and improving water quality by creating a healthier and safer environment for fish breeding.
