A local firm CH. Kimhaing Aphivat (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. is intended to cooperate with the Ministry of Environment in setting up a small-scale waste processing plant to contribute with the Royal Government's efforts in dealing with the waste issue. The intention was raised by Mr. Phoeur Kimhaing, General Director of CH. Kimhaing Aphivat (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. while paying a courtesy call on Minister of Environment H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, at the ministry on Dec. 27. In reply, the minister thanked the company for its intention to contribute to the development of the landfill. However, he asked the company to present its project in advance for all relevant ministries and institutions to study, review and assess its environmental impacts. H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to environmental protection, especially solid waste management, stressing that the first task that the ministry has to do is to reduce the use of plastic bags, then the management of plastic and solid waste in schoo ls.
