According to Nam News Network, the mine collapse occurred after a waste heap at a disused jade mining site collapsed near Namthmaw village in Hpakant township, Kachin state, on Sunday. The site, known for its hazardous conditions, has become the focus of rescue operations led by local authorities, volunteer groups, and residents. Despite persistent rain and the risk of further landslides, the community has united in search efforts. The bodies recovered so far are being returned to their families, offering some solace amidst the tragedy.
