5 carmakers to recall over 266,000 vehicles for faulty parts

Hyundai Motor Co., Toyota Motor Korea Corp. and three other carmakers will voluntarily recall more than 266,000 vehicles due to faulty components, the transport ministry said Thursday.

The five companies, including Kia Corp., Renault Korea Motors and Volkswagen Group Korea, are recalling 266,074 units of 12 different models, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement.

The problems that prompted the recall include a faulty hydraulic electronic control unit in Hyundai’s Genesis coupe, a faulty engine oil filter system in Kia’s Carnival minivan, poor assembly of the passenger seat in the front row of Toyota’s Lexus LS500h sedan and assembly problems involving the front seats in Volkswagen’s ID.4 electric vehicle, the statement said.
