40 Cambodian Students Awarded Indian ICCR Scholarships for Academic Year 2023-2024

Forty (40) Cambodian students have been awarded Indian ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Scholarships for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes at different prestigious Indian universities for the Academic Year 2023-2024.

On July 27, 2023, they were received by H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia at the Embassy of India’s premises.

H.E. Ambassador Devayni Khobragade in her address shared that studying in India is a wonderful way to expand knowledge, see the world, improve intercultural competencies, and gain valuable experience.

She also stated that India-Cambodia cultural and historical relations are more than a millennium old when Indian culture, religion and trade emanated out of India and spread rapidly in various parts of South-East Asia. The ambassador added that all students will in terms of language, culture, etc., surely experience the similarity between the two countries.

On the occasion, one live session and three short video clips of Cambodian students, who are studying in India, were displayed for sharing their experience for new comers followed by question-answer sessions.

According to the embassy’s press release, India has one of the most advanced infrastructure for higher education. Indian degrees are treated at par excellence all over the world and professionals who have undertaken higher studies in India have made significant contribution to advanced and applied research in different disciplines all over the world. A number of Indian Institutes for higher studies have come to symbolise academic excellence over these years.

After Hon’ble Vice President of India visited Cambodia to attend the ASEAN-India Summit held in Phnom Penh in November 2022, the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has announced the increase of slots (AY 2023-24) in ICCR Scholarship for Cambodian students, the source pointed out.
