12 FAMILIES IN TAMBUN PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY RECEIVE HOUSE REPAIR ASSISTANCE

A total of 12 families in the Tambun parliamentary constituency received assistance for the repairs of their dilapidated homes or to build a new house.

Special officer to Tambun Member of Parliament, Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri, said the Perak State Development Office in collaboration with Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre identified the applicants who are eligible for the allocation.

"A total of 12 applications were approved in the Development and Public Infrastructure Coordination Meeting on June 22.

"Today we visited six houses and will check on the others tomorrow. Generally we see that the houses are in need of repairs or reconstruction and the allocation for each house will depend on the severity of damage and condition of the house," he told reporters when met here today.

Meanwhile, one of the recipients, Noor Azmi Iskandar, 70, he had been waiting for quite sometime to renovate his house in Kampung Masjid Tambun to enable his family to live more comfortably.

"I inherited this ancestral property and 13 people, including my wife, our children and grandchildren are living here. We are indeed grateful and overjoyed that the house will finally be repaired because I can never afford to do it on my own.

"My children earn just enough to get by, while I work as a scrap goods seller. This house is over 80 years old, so when it rains and strong winds blow, I will be fearful as the house may collapse," he said.

Another recipient, Kamarulzaman Yang Mat Din, 82, from RPA 2, Ulu Kinta said his family was glad to receive the aid for house repair work, especially to replace the leaky roof.

"I have lived here for over 20 years. I am thankful if the indoor and outdoor roof can be replaced, that’s all I ask for.

"We are deeply moved and delighted to be selected for the aid,” he said while thanking the Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre and the government agencies involved for helping to ease his family’s burden.
