Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister Extends Condolences over Loss of Soldiers in Explosion Incident in Kampong Speu


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the soldiers killed by an ammunition explosion incident in Kampong Speu province.

‘I am shocked to hear about the ammunition explosion incident at the 3rd Military Zone in Kampong Speu province on Saturday afternoon, April 27, 2024, which killed 20 soldiers and injured several others,’ he wrote in a message on his social media this evening.

‘On behalf of the Royal Government and on my own behalf, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and our sympathy to the injured of this tragic incident,’ the Premier said.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has instructed H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, and H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, to immediately arrange a funeral for the fallen soldiers.

‘H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha will be my representative to pay last res
pects to the fallen soldiers,’ he continued. ‘The Royal Government will be fully responsible for the funeral expenses.’

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet announced to provide US$20,000 for each of the bereaved family and 20 million Riel (about US$5,000) for each injured soldier.

The Prime Minister also prayed for the soul of the fallen soldiers to rest in peace and the injured a speedy recovery.
